Born in Terrassa, in Cataluña, in 1937. A key figure in Catalán avant-garde cinema, contemporary with but not a part of the Barcelona School. He self-funded his early films from his job at a bank, leading to the production of two feature-length films and 11 shorts.

A humorously distorted version of the life of Shirley Temple, and described by its director as a terrorist musical. Shirley Temple sets off for the Emerald City to tell the Wizard that she is upset that Judy Garland has been selected for the role of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. On this trip she is accompanied by a group of characters who make reference to a fragmented, bipolar society. The film was begun as Franco was ill and completed after his death, and makes reference to the oppression of Spain during this period.

El film presenta a un grupo de marginados que vive en un estercolero, como metáfora de la insatisfacción en la España de Franco; seducidos por el Sistema, simbolizado a través de una fiesta social (aceptación del ritual), esto les llevará a la auto-destrucción y sólo uno de ellos logra escapar, respondiendo con un gesto anárquico. Esta base narrativa es expuesta a través de una estructura dilatada (a lo largo de 130 minutos), puntuada por diversas rupturas o paréntesis de carácter un tanto onírico. Especial interés ofrece el uso del negativo de sonido (que ya Pere Portabella había utilizado magistralmente), el cual otorga calidades de alto contraste a las esperpénticas imágenes. En la banda sonora, Padrós empieza a utilizar un amplio repertorio de temas musicales: ópera, viejas melodías, temas de otros films, etc.
