An extraordinary black comedy that explores the limits of survival and absurdist political power games. The story takes place in times of elections in Mexico. A candidate for Governor runs over a pregnant migrant. After the accident, and to avoid a possible scandal, he hides her in a building he owns. Pressured by his political boss and so as not to ruin his political career, the candidate evicts the migrant. In a non-realistic style, the film focuses on the stories that surround the migrant during her search for a room. A radical film, with a critical gaze, that reflects the spirit of contemporary Mexican society.

"Hoy, Martes de Carnaval, los 'Cigarrones' acechan; no se dejen arrastrar por su danza de bestia en celo porque cuando se den cuenta de que bailan al son de la muerte sera tarde", oye en la radio el escritor al empezar un día que puede serle fatal. En su vieja casa de aldea gallega trata de huir del fracaso matrimonial, del alcohol y la falta de inspiración. El encuentro con los 'Cigarrones', inquietantes máscaras, le provocan extraños sueños y le abren el recuerdo de ese otro Martes de Carnaval de su juventud que le marcó su destino. También hoy ha de acabar un relato sobre quienes más le molestan: su ex mujer, su editor y el ama que le cuida.
