Amina vive con su abuelo en Suecia desde que tenía tres años. Ahora el abuelo ha muerto sin poder legalizar la situación de ambos en su país de adopción. Amina está sola y es una "sin papeles" con riesgo de ser expulsada del país. Entonces conoce a un joven músico y a su novia y al grupo de amigos que tienen, una serie de personajes a cual más original. Ellos serán su nueva familia y la ayudarán en su lucha por permanecer en Suecia. Junto a ellos, Amina descubrirá una vida sin convencionalismos ni prejuicios y sobre todo aprenderá que se puede disfrutar de la vida sin dinero.
