11人の死亡が確認された悲惨な飛行機事故で９歳になる一人息子サムを亡くした母親テリー。それから14ヵ月たったいまでもテリーは立ち直れずに、サムの思い出に浸るだけの毎日を送っていた。そんなある日、テリーは夫と息子と３人で撮った記念写真からサムだけが消えているのを見つけ困惑する。異変はさらに続き、大切なアルバムからも、そしてビデオテープからもサムが消えてしまっていた。動揺するテリーに精神科医は、“息子など最初から存在しなかった”と告げるのだった。ショックを受けるテリーは、サムの存在を証明しようと躍起になるのだったが…。
