斬新なテルマエ（浴場）を作ったことで一躍人気者になった古代ローマの浴場設計士ルシウスは、コロッセオにグラディエーターたちを癒す浴場を作ってほしいと頼まれ頭を悩ませる。そんな時、またしても現代日本へタイムスリップしたルシウスは、平たい顔族（＝日本人）の山越真実と再会。そこで見た日本の国技・相撲にヒントを得て、グラディエーター用の新たなテルマエを作るばかりか、血なまぐさいコロッセオに平和的な雰囲気を持ち込むことにも成功する。しかし、和平路線を進める皇帝ハドリアヌスに反発し、グラディエーターたちの戦いを通して市民の好戦意欲を高めようと企んでいた強硬派の元老院は、ルシウスの存在が邪魔になり、さらなる陰謀をめぐらせる。
