脳卒中で倒れた堅物の元警官ウォルト。「リハビリに効く」という歌のレッスンのために彼が嫌々頼んだのは、隣人のドラッグ・クイーン歌手、ラスティだった。毎日喧嘩を繰り返しながらも、やがて2人の間には奇妙な友情が芽生え始める……。そして、マフィアの抗争に巻き込まれてしまったラスティを助けだすために立ちあがったウォルトだが……。
「神の恵みの地」と呼ばれるヨークシャーを舞台に、大自然の中で求め合う2人の孤独な青年の愛の行方を描き、ベルリン国際映画祭をはじめ世界各地の映画祭で高評価を獲得したラブストーリー。年老いた祖母や病気の父に代わり、家族経営の寂れた牧場を切り盛りする青年ジョニー。孤独な労働の日々を酒と行きずりのセックスで紛らわす彼のもとに、ルーマニア移民の季節労働者ゲオルゲが羊の出産シーズンを手伝いにやってくる。はじめのうちは衝突してばかりの2人だったが、羊に優しく接するゲオルゲに、ジョニーはこれまで感じたことのない恋心を抱きはじめる。ジョニー役に「ライオット・クラブ」のジョシュ・オコナー。
パリ在住の80代の夫婦、ジョルジュとアンヌ。共に音楽教師で、娘はミュージシャンとして活躍と、充実した日々を送っていた。ある日、教え子が開くコンサートに出向いた2人だが、そこでアンヌが病で倒れてしまう。病院に緊急搬送され、かろうじて死だけは免れたものの、半身まひという重い後遺症が残ってしまう。家に帰りたいというアンヌの強い願いから、自宅で彼女の介護を始めるジョルジュ。しかし、少しずつアンヌの症状は悪化していき、ついに死を選びたいと考えるようになり……。
Tristana is a young Spanish woman left to the care of Don Lope, a protective but impoverished aristocrat.
