国際的な犯罪グループが盗んだマイクロチップが移送中に空港で間違えられ、シカゴの高級住宅街に住む老婦人の手に渡る。それを知った彼らはチップを取り返すべく、さっそく住宅街の捜索を開始する。日中はほぼ無人と化す住宅街だったが、そんな彼らの行動を、病気で学校を休んでいたアレックス少年が発見。警察に通報したがまったく相手にされず、アレックスは自分独りで悪者たちに立ち向かう決心をする。
