In this TV drama, seventeen-year-old Maja helps her older brother Bokan to solve a debt that he cannot pay because he is in prison. Wanting to prove herself, Maja insists on doing the job on her own without nobody's help. This decision will take her into a world of violence for which she is not ready.

The storyline narrates his memories of the past and the war events in the spring of 1941 interwoven with the contemporary moments, the author features the attack of fascist Germany, the April war and the fall of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the misfortune placed upon the Serbian people, loss of freedom, birth of the freedom movement in Serbia and one Serbian soldier, who after 70 years of expatriation in America returns to his homeland.

Alek (Gordan Kicic) is desperate because Teodora (Milica Mihajlovic) has left him after a three years being together. The problem is that Nemanja is not in love with her but with Marina (Vanja Ejdus), a girl by a few years younger. Unfortunately, Marina is not in love with him, she is very attracted to Alek's "Slavic depression". She doesn't know that reason for his "charm of a desperate" is his failure with Teodora, she thinks Alek was born like that.

In Marseille, the young Serbian-Albanian Adria Shala is an illegal immigrant traumatized by her past. Every now and then Adria recalls her life in Kosovo, when she was saved from rape by a deserter called Srdjan Vasiljevic in 1999. They move to Belgrade where Srdjan becomes a gangster, dealing weapons and becoming an assassin. Adria learns how to shoot and helps Srdjan with his work at first, becoming his mistress later.

Lana becomes Saša's closest friend - a person able to prove that life is sometimes a mere game. In the midst of historical and family chaos, Saša gets involved in a love relationship with her boyfriend's sister.
