Forty years later, Guillermo Montesinos, the actor who played José María el Cepa in The Cuenca Crime (1980), directed by Pilar Miró, returns to the various locations where the shooting of the mythical film, narrating the infamous Grimaldos case (1910), took place.
An account of the many assassination attempts suffered by dictator Francisco Franco (1892-1975), perpetrated between 1936 and 1964, taking as a starting point the short story entitled 'La verdadera muerte de Francisco Franco', an ucronic fantasy published in 1960 by the Spanish writer Max Aub (1903-71), who fled Spain after the Civil War (1936-39) and established in Mexico in 1942.

Enrique kills a man for stealing him a check he has received due to an accident. However, things get complicated because it had not yet been cashed. This will force him to try to forge the signature and eliminate any suspect, including his girlfriend Clara, who works in a law office and who talked him about the check. Police tracks the case, but by chance Pedrito, the police inspector's son, is also investigating on his own.
