鎌倉時代、1200年代初め。貧しい農家に生まれながらも賢く利発な平次郎は、ある日、親鸞聖人と出会い、多くを学び成長していく。やがて京に戻った親鸞聖人を追って故郷を離れた平次郎は、「唯円」という名を授かり、仲間たちとともに親鸞聖人のもとで仏教を学ぶ。そんな中、かつての友人が苦境に立たされていると知った唯円は、なにも出来ない自分への無力感にとらわれ苦悩する。なぜ、善人よりも悪人が救われるのか？　人は、なぜ生きるのか？　「すべての人間が悪人であり、救われるために条件はない」という親鸞聖人の言葉の真意が、解き明かされていく――。

定年までの38年間を無遅刻無欠勤で勤め上げた真面目一徹の道太郎。18年前に妻と死別し、身の回りのことはひとり娘の弓子に任せっきりだった彼だが、弓子から今後自分のことは自分でやるように、と親離れを宣言されてしまう。慣れない主夫業と第二の人生に戸惑う道太郎は、ある朝、成り行きから地域のラジオ体操会に参加することに。会のマドンナ的存在であるのぞみに胸ときめかせながら、体操にいそしむ道太郎だった。

何にも興味がなさそうでいいかげんな大学生・佐藤清高は、夏休みに自動車免許を取ろうと考える。ある日、清高は無免許運転のヤクザ・轟木に車でひかれ、そのまま車に連れ込まれてしまう。到着したのは非公認教習所。そこで清高と轟木が高校の同級生だったことが判明する。二人はクセ者ばかりが集まる教習所でひと夏を過ごすことになる。

The body of a professor is discovered at a university lecture hall suspended from the ceiling of the stage, with a series of mysterious numbers written on the curtains nearby. Professor Eiko, a law professor at the university well versed in criminology, is asked to assist police in the investigation, and he uncovers clues that point to him as a suspect. Why is he being set up? As he and his assistant work to decipher the code left on the curtains, another professor at the university is murdered. And yet another mysterious code is left at the scene of the crime.

甘い恋に憧れる元気いっぱいな高校1年生の都築りかは、3年生の「みの先輩」こと美野原圭吾に恋をする。そんな彼女の思いとは裏腹に、圭吾は一つ年上の卒業生で大学生の沖田葵に片思いをしていた。どんなに彼のことを思っても届かない苦しさから、嫉妬と絶望に心をかき乱されながらも、りかはいちずに圭吾への思いを募らせていく。

A housewife was killed by a falling fire extinguisher, which a boy of seven years dropped from the top floor of an apartment. The offender, however, was not accused because he was too young. Ten years later, a series of murders occur, which target young girls only. It is the boy accused of killing the housewife who comes up in the couse of investigation, while the son of the murdered mother is the witness of a new murder. When the two families of the offender and of the victim meet again, two opposite morals conflict with each other – one is to crack down on the sin beyond the law and another is to disapprove the retaliation.
