Ana Franić

Ana Franić was born and raised in Belgrade, capital city of ex-Yugoslavia (now Serbia). Her mother's name is Olga. Her father Severin Franic is a writer and film critic, also a member of Yugoslav section of FIPRESCI. Ana was graduated at Faculty of dramatic arts in Belgrade. She studied acting with Katarina Radivojević, Sloboda Mićalović, Marija Vicković, Milos Vlalukin. Ana has become popular by taking on the main role in Disi Duboko (2004), first Serbian lesbian movie. For that role she won many awards.

Prejudices, stereotypes and lack of communication between men and women, people of different religions, nationalities and social statutes will lead to absurd and, at times, dangerous situations, all colored with elements of dark humor. The story takes place at the beginning of the bombing, both in Belgrade and in one small town in Serbia, at the end of March 1999. Forty-year-old Mickey, an unaccomplished writer, a disillusioned assistant professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, a discouraged democrat and a columnist, dismissed from a famous daily newspaper, emerges from his own grave and enters into his own life. Within 48 hours, he will try to achieve all those things he couldn't while he was alive. Zona Zamfirova is set in the eastern Serbian city of Niš in the 19th century. The plot follows the story of Zona Zamfirova, a local rich man's daughter, and the vicissitudes of her affair with Mane, an ordinary goldsmith. As it was undesirable for the daughter of a rich man to marry a craftsman, the two are at first divided, with the possibility of Zona marrying Manulać, who came from a wealthy family. Everything is, however, changed as Mane organizes a successful conspiracy to keep Zona for himself.
