Honto Ni Atta! Noroi No Video 67 (2016)

1994년 10월 21일, 세 명의 영화학도 헤더 도나휴, 죠슈 레오나드, 마이클 C. 윌리암스 는 메릴랜드의 블랙힐 숲 속으로 떠난다. 이들의 과제는 200 여년 동안 전해내려 온 블레어 윗치 전설에 얽힌 진실을 다큐멘터리로 제작하는 것. 하지만 16미리 필름과 비디오 카메라, 그리고 녹음기와 메모지를 들고 숲 속으로 들어갔던 그들은 흔적도 없이 사라진다. 1년 후, 블랙 힐 숲에서 발견된 것은 그들이 직접 찍었던 필름 뿐. ‘블레어 윗치’는 메릴렌드주 블레어라 불리는 깊은 숲속 지역에서 발생된 어린이 대량학살의 원인으로 불리는 초자연적 유령에 대한 시골 전설로서, 이들 3명은 이것을 다큐멘타리로 기록하기 위해 블렉 힐 이라는 숲 속으로 들어간 후 자취를 감춘다. 팀의 주장이라 할 수 있는 헤더는 8mm 비디오로 상세한 여정을 기록하고자 항상 찍어대고 조슈아는 흑백 16미리 촬영을, 마이크는 음향 녹음을 담당하여 깊은 숲속으로 나침반과 지도만을 따라 들어가는데...

‘당신이 잠든 사이에’라는 리얼TV다큐 프로그램의 리포터 안젤라와 카메라맨 파블로는 촬영을 위해 소방서에 방문한다. 소방관들의 일상을 취재하던 중 한 통의 구조요청 전화가 울리고, 대원들을 따라 사고현장으로 출동한 안젤라와 파블로는 사건현장을 하나도 빠짐 없이 찍기 위해 밀착취재를 시도한다. 그러나 현장에 도착하자마자 미친 듯이 발광하는 노파에게 공격을 당하고, 건물 안에 심상치 않은 일이 일어났음을 느낀 일행들은 급히 탈출을 시도한다. 하지만 모든 출입문은 당국의 폐쇄조치로 봉쇄된 상태. 원인도 모른 채 꼼짝 없이 건물 안에 갇히게 된다. 그 와중에 무언가에 전염된 듯 사람들이 하나 둘 기이하게 변하고, 아직 온전한 사람들은 살기 위해 필사적으로 건물 안을 벗어나려 한다. 이 모습을 놓치지 않기 위해 카메라는 계속해서 돌아가는데…. 당신의 눈도 믿지 못할 공포의 현장이 실시간으로 공개된다!

일본으로 떠나는 롭을 위한 뉴욕시내의 송별 파티장. 친구 허드는 떠나는 롭에게 전할 마지막 인사를 캠코더에 담느라 분주하다. 파티의 분위기가 무르익을 무렵, 어디선가 알 수 없는 괴성이 들려오며 파티장은 순식간에 암흑에 휩싸이고, 지진이 발생한 듯 도시 전체가 요란하게 흔들린다. 당황한 일행 중 누군가가 급히 TV를 켜자, 뉴스에서는 ‘정체불명의 거대괴물이 맨해튼 시내를 무자비하게 파괴하고 있다! 즉시 대피하라!’는 뉴스만이 반복된다. 다급히 옥상으로 올라가 바깥상황을 살펴본 롭과 일행은 처참히 파괴되어가는 도시와 ‘그 놈’이 날려버린 자유의 여신상의 머리가 길바닥에 나뒹구는 사태를 바라보며 놀라움을 금치 못한다. 절체절명의 위기 속에서 다급해진 롭은 미들타운에 사는 여자친구 베스에게 연락을 취하지만, 불통이다. 친구들의 만류에도 분류하고 롭과 일행은 베스를 구하러 미들타운으로 향하는데…

영화는 전편이 끝난 바로 몇 초 후의 상황을 보여주며 시작된다. 취재진과 소방관들이 모두 감염되고 남은 사람은 리포터 안젤라 뿐. 좀비 바이러스에 완전히 잠식당한 아파트는 봉쇄되고, 그 안으로 상황을 파악할 SWAT팀과 목적을 알 수 없는 오웬 박사가 투입된다.
