출판사에 근무하는 료는 얼마 전 새 아파트로 이사한다. 어느 날 료는 옆집 소리가 다 들린다는 걸 깨닫는다. 얇은 벽 너머로 본 적도 없는 '이웃집 여자'의 생활을전해 들으면서 점차 망상을 키워가던 료는, 결국 상상속의 여자에게 연정을 품게되고 도청을 하기에 이른다. 그 무렵, 옆집 여자 사츠키는 매일 걸려오는 협박전화에 시달리며 남자친구 유타로부터 위안을 얻게 되었다. 료는 사츠키의 행동거지를 하나하나 확인하면서 그녀가 누군지 찾아낸다. 유독 한 곳에서만 도청에 잡음이 끼는 것 때문에 도청전문가 오노를 집으로 부른 료는 그이유가 다른 누군가가 또 도청을 하고 있기 때문이라는 소릴 듣고 추적한 결과, 그 사람이 사츠키의 남자친구인 유타라는 것을 알게 되는데...

혁명군 '사계협회'의 추秋군단은 수도총공격을 기약하며 미군기지습격 무기착취작전을 감행한다. 그러나 작전은 생각대로 진행되지 않고 부하들은 죽게 되고 대장은 눈을 다쳐 눈이 멀게 된다. 이를 계기로 내부적인 분열이 일어나고 그 작전 자체에 대한 회의 마저 일기도 하며 과연 혁명이란 존재하는 것인가 등에 대하여 많은 질문을 던진다. 그러나 그들은 결국 다시 뭉치고 끝까지 싸울 것을 맹세하고 폭탄을 들고 거리를 나선다. 감독은 60년에서 70년대에 걸쳐 에로스와 폭력과 정치에 관련된 충격적인 작품을 발표하였으며 당시 학원 투쟁등 당시 투쟁을 하던 젊은이들에게 열광적인 지지를 받았던 영화들 중의 한 작품이다. 째즈 연주자 야마시타 료스케의 음악 또한 귀기울여 들어볼만 하다.
