중국정부에 비판적인 영화를 만들다 중국 내 활동이 어려워진 양수 감독은 5년째 홍콩에서 일종의 정치적인 망명 생활을 하고 있다. 홍콩인 남편과 함께 이제 4살된 아들을 두고 강의도 하고 새로운 영화 기획도 하면서 겉으로는 안정된 홍콩 주민으로 살고 있는 것처럼 보인다. 영화가 시작되면 이들 가족은 첩보영화 주인공들처럼 조심스럽게 대만으로 떠난다. 양수 감독이 5년전 중국을 떠난 후 고향에 혼자 남은 엄마가 중국 단체 여행단으로 대만에 도착했기 때문이다. 딸이 떠난 후 엄마는 중국 공안의 주기적인 감찰 방문조사에 시달렸고 그 모든 것을 녹음해 딸에게 건네준다. 이란 소박한 타이틀과 달리 평범한 한 가족의 잠깐의 재회를 위해 중국도 홍콩도 아닌 대만을 택해야 하는 이들 가족의 속사정을 온전히 이해하려면 중국현대사를 다시 되돌아보고 억압에 맞서며 예술가의 자유를 지켜내려는 잉량 감독의 영화 여정에 대한 되새김이 필요해진다. Mr Yuen Tai-Yung (b. 1941) is a Chinese artist known for his creation of over 200 iconic Hong Kong movie posters - which include many films from the Bruce Lee, Hui Brothers, Stephen Chow, Jacky Chan and Sammo Hung's kung fu and comedy series. This documentary chronicles the director's quest to find the reclusive master and subsequent encounters with the man within a period of 12 months. It captures the life and art of the self-taught genius who single-handedly depicted the look and feel of what can be describe as the Golden Era of Hong Kong Cinema from 1975 to 1992. Western audiences might recognize some familiar faces from the prolific painter's recent works - undeniably breathtaking - such as the portraits of Marlon Brando, Michael Jackson, James Dean, John Lennon, Audrey Hepburn and Anne Hathaway.

A computer engineer working for an insurance company stops over in Hong Kong on his way to a conference. He gets tricked into breaking into a bank.

로마에서 중국 식당을 경영하는 진청화(묘가수)는 폭력 조직이 영업을 방해하자 홍콩의 삼촌에게 도움을 청한다. 이에 홍콩에서 온 당룡(이소룡)이라는 쿵푸 청년이 로마에 도착한다. 가라데를 배우는 종업원들은 그를 과소평가하지만 폭력배들을 쿵푸로 혼내주는 그를 보고는 생각을 달리한다. 계속 부하들이 당하자 두목은 진청화를 납치하여 강제로 계약서에 서명을 시키려 하나 당룡의 일행에 의해 무산되고 만다. 이들은 당룡에게 맞설 수 있는 무술인들을 미국, 유럽, 일본에서 불러들이고 당룡은 콜로세움에서 콜트(척 노리스)와의 최후의 대결을 벌이기 시작하는데...
