In January 1946 a British military transport plane departs from Shanghai on its to Tokyo, Japan. During the flight the airplane makes an emergency landing on Sado Island. The residents on the island have heard stereotypes of the British soldiers and have mixed feelings about the their new "guest." Nevertheless, for the next 40 days the islanders take care of the crew members until the plane can take off once again. This includes Chiyoko Morimoto who is the daughter of the inn owner where some of the British crew members stay.

High school student Tomoyuki (Hoshi Ishida), his father (Kazuhiro Sano), and Yuki (Miwako Wagatsuma), a girl that Tomyuki likes, gather together as a family and performs road shows out of their truck. A sense of loss, farewells, and relations are all brought out.

Based on a true story, Yoshiko and Yuriko relates the journey and great love affair of Yoshiko, who was a renowned translator of Russian literature and drama, and Yuriko, who was a feminist novelist and great activist of the post-war democratic literature movement. Both have left huge marks on Japanese literary history. The two women shared a strong attraction to each other from their first meeting and enjoyed a powerful love affair. Yoshiko reveals that she's an out lesbian, whilst Yuriko is married (not altogether happily) to a well-known scholar - a situation she can't walk away from with ease.

After Hibari's friend Tsuikushi (Yosuke Kubozuka) gets discharged from the nursing facility, Hibari writes to him about his relationships with Dakesang (Mieko Kawakami) the chief nurse and Mabo (Riisa Naka) another nurse that is bright and seems to like him.

이즈미사와 츠키코는 전문대에서 사진을 전공하며 카메라 맨을 꿈꾸는 평범한 학생들이다. 3년 전 당한 교통사고로 당시의 3개월 전후 기억을 잃은 츠키코는 정신과 치료를 받기 위해 병원을 다니고 있다. 사고의 후유증 때문인지 거의 매일 밤을 악몽에 시달리는 츠키코년 자신이 피범벅되어 있는 꿈을 꾸며 공포에 질린다. 정신과 의사 호소노 타츠코는 최면요법으로 츠키코의 증상을 찾으려 한다. 최면상태에서 츠키코는 타나베, 토미에라는 이름을 말하고 호소노는 그 두명의 이름과 츠키코의 기억상실 사이의 상관관계를 찾기 시작한다. 츠키코의 아랫 집인 201호실에 이사온 사내는 알수 없는 존재와 동거중이었다. 그 존재는 으스스한 공기를 내뿜는 둥근 물체 안에서 여성으로 급격히 성장하고 있었다. 201호에서 흘러나오는 노래를 듣게 된 츠키코는 이 노래 소리를 예전에도 들은 기억을 떠올리게 되는데...

학생, 주부, 야쿠자 등 서로 다른 삶을 살아온 사람들에게 같은 내용의 쪽지가 도착한다. 정해진 시간에 맞춰 특정한 장소로 오라는 것이다. 자세한 사연도 모른 채 바닷가의 작은 섬에 도착한 사람들은 곧 잊지 못할 놀라운 사건을 경험한다.

The disco’s patrons dance late into the night, unaware that a faulty basement generator has reactivated Mikadroid and the cyborg now prowls the basement levels, killing anyone in its path...

The film stars two of Itami's regular actors, Nobuko Miyamoto as a geisha who brings luck to the men with whom she sleeps, and Masahiko Tsugawa as her unfaithful, sometimes partner. As well as showing her relationships with the man she loves and the men who employ her, it satirizes corruption and the influence of money in Japanese politics.
