Five friends gather for a celebration that spins wildly out of control. Something goes terribly wrong. The film begins in the 1930s after he has married the daughter of an industrialist, Annie, who is also a concert pianist. This era was frustrating for Leifs because his works were seldom performed. The film is about a little boy, living in the centre of Reykjavík during the first years of Second World War. While poverty is still a fact of life, the business of war slowly begins to affect people's lives. Gradually, the terrors of war filter through into the young boy's mind.
