좀비 대재앙이 호주를 강타한다. 20대 중반의 전화 교환국 직원 대릴은 몇몇 동료들과 전화 교환국에 갇히고 만다. 비록 세상은 망했지만 대릴은 여전히 보스 로이와 조엘을 설득해 실내 크리켓팀에 합류하려고 노력한다. 단 두 가지 사건이 그의 앞을 가로막는다. 대릴이 좀비가 된 로이의 아내를 죽이고, 같은 날 오후 로이의 딸 에마와 성관계를 가졌다는 사실. 에마의 남자친구 라클런과 그의 동료 라이언까지 등장하자 상황은 점점 복잡해진다. 밖에선 좀비가 몰려들고, 안에선 맥주 하나 남지 않은 절박한 상황에서 대릴은 살아남기 위해 애쓰는 한편 로이에게 상황을 솔직히 털어놓으려고 고군분투하는데...
