Peaches, a hair stylist from Baltimore, and her estranged sister, Angela, the owner of an upscale salon in Beverly Hills, get reacquainted when Peaches decides to attend a celebration for Angela in LA. The reunion is bittersweet and worsens when Angela finds out that Peaches is on the run from the IRS and has only a few days to pay $50,000 in back taxes. 제목처럼 대학에 진학한 현직 대통령의 딸이 대학 신입생으로 겪는 친구 관계와 첫 사랑의 감정을 그렸다는 면에서 소재와 내용 모두 8개월 일찍 개봉한 워너 브러더즈 사의 (당초 이 영화의 가제가 'First Daughter'였음)의 쌍둥이 동생이라고 불릴 만한 20세기 폭스의 로맨틱 코메디물. 18세의 사만사 맥킨지가 다른 또래의 친구들과 가장 차별되는 점이 있다면 항상 그녀의 뒤를 여러 명의 경호원들이 따라다닌다는 점이다. 바로 사만사가 대통령의 딸이기 때문이다. 대학입학과 함께, 여느 신입생들과 마찬가지로 집과 부모님으로부터 떨어져 사는 생활을 경험해보고 싶은 사만사는 지신에게 경호원을 따라 붙히지 말 것을 요구하고, 마지못해 아빠(대통령)는 이를 허락한다. 하지만, 못내 딸이 걱정되는 아빠는 가장 젊은 비밀요원, 제임스를 대학생으로 위장시켜 그녀를 경호하게끔 한다. 문제는 하루종일 그녀의 일거수 일투족을 감시하는 제임스가 급기야 사만사를 사랑하게 되고, 그의 정체를 모르는 사만사 역시 제임스를 좋아하게 된것. 둘의 사랑은 이루어질 수 있을 것인가?
