Four men who may or may not know each other previously, wander aimlessly in a strange city listening to strange voices. They gradually come together as they try to remember what links them together and why they are meant to regroup. A surreal drama/comedy about isolation, the need to remember, and failed break-in.

Several characters from different social backgrounds cross paths in the course of one day: a 50 year old woman who refuses to grow up, a millionaire who provides in-home counseling on Feng Shui while searching for her son, a pop star, a struggling actor, and a selfish theater director.

The plot follows the story of twin brothers, one is a coldhearted violent police officer, the other is a helpless romantic with a mental disability. The two brothers are tragically involved with a prostitute who works in the bordello that gives the film its title. The film was adapted from an eponymous novel written by Juan Marsé.
