카메라는 보스니아 남자, 스위스 여자, 쿠바 남자 이렇게 세 사람의 삶을 수년간 따라가며 그들의 변화 되어가는 모습을 담는다. 이 셋은 문화적 배경, 국적, 나이 면에서 전혀 공통점이 없지만 모두 현재의 삶에서 벗어나고 싶어 한다는 공통점이 있다. 시간이 흐르면서 이들의 운명은 예측하지 못한 방향으로 나아간다. 롤란도 콜라의 신작 다큐멘터리는 2002년부터 2011년까지 근 10년 동안 동일한 인물 셋의 삶을 지켜보는 인내와 노력이 들어간 놀라운 영화다. 산골에 홀로 사는 양치기 남자와 쿠바의 정신과의사, 스위스의 간호사 이 셋은 긴 세월 동안 큰 삶의 변화를 겪는다. 영화 초반, 감독은 우리에게 “무엇이 우리의 삶을 결정하는가?”라는 질문을 던진다. 이 영화는 그에 대한 답을 찾아가는 어려운 여정이기도 하며, 우리로 하여금 인간의 조건과 삶의 의미에 대해 되돌아보게 만든다.
