기분 나쁠 정도의 한적함에 덮혀있는 쿠로우즈 마을에 사는 소녀 키리에는 어릴 때부터의 친구였던 슈이치와 연인 사이로 발전한다. 슈이치는 최근 자신의 아버지가 이상해졌다는 말을 하며 함께 마을을 떠나자고 한다. 이후 키리에의 주변에서 이상한 일들이 벌어지기 시작한다. 한편 도예가인 키리에의 아버지에게 소용돌이 문양의 접시를 부탁한 슈이치의 아버지는 소용돌이 모양과 관련된 갖가지 물건들을 방이 가득찰 정도로 수집한 끝에, 결국 세탁기 속에서 소용돌이 모양으로 꼬여진 시체로 발견된다. 또한 슈이치의 어머니도 슈이치의 아버지를 화장하던 중 굴뚝에서 나오는 연기가 소용돌이 모양으로 바뀌는 모습을 보고 쇼크로 병원에 입원한다. 이러한 현상은 마을에 전염병처럼 퍼지기 시작하는데...

The veteran employee decides to find his boss, a divorced father, a new wife. The supervisor loves a bar hostess “mama-san,” but is unable to confess his true feelings until Hama-chan comes to his rescue.

A look a the lives of two sex workers in Tokyo: Rei, who works as an S&M dominatrix, and Ayumi, in the more straightforward profession of call girl. In addition to their working life, the film also looks at their private lives. Rei is acting in an amateur theatre company (along with the receptionist from Ayumi's escort service), while Ayumi is living with her student-boyfriend as he struggles to finally get accepted to college.
