Dois seres experimentais, ligados telepaticamente, conseguem escapar de incêndio em laboratório genético. Um deles é um terrível monstro programado para matar qualquer coisa que cruze seu caminho. Koontz, o filme deu origem a três continuações, em 1990, 1994 e 1998, mas sem os mesmos personagens.
