Durante toda a sua vida, Edward Bloom tem sido um homem de grandes sonhos, paixões e histórias inesquecíveis. Nos subúrbios da Cidade do México um grupo de jovens passa os dias cometendo pequenos roubos. Um fugitivo de um reformatório, Jaibo, por ser mais velho e experiente se torna o líder natural deles. Um dia, na presença de Pedro, Jaibo se descontrola e espanca Julian até a morte. Pedro carrega um sentimento de culpa por se considerar cúmplice de Jaibo, que se comporta como se nada tivesse acontecido.
