Cherie Currie, ao lado de Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Sandy West e Jackie Fox (todas entre 16 e 18 anos de idade), formavam o grupo The Runaways. Num ambiente dominado pelos homens, as meninas do The Runaways conquistaram o público, vendendo milhões de discos e se apresentando em todas as partes do mundo. Como na maior parte das bandas de rock, disputas de ego e dinheiro foram determinantes no processo que levou à dissolução do grupo.
