The budget for the program to colonize Mars was so drastically cut back that settlements never appeared on the faraway planet. Lucie is a conversational movie, sometimes also called "bytový film" which in translation means "residential movie". The story takes place in one location which is the flat of one of the character's whose name is Lucie. Lucie invites a group of people to have a few drinks and to have some interesting conversations.

Hynek Michánek wants to study medicine but fails his entrance exams five times. He starts a job as an orderly in a district hospital where one of the doctors on the examining board works as well. He feels no-one takes him seriously and he loathes the doctors, who treat him with disdain. When an old man begs him to end his pain and suffering by helping him to die, Hynek gives him a "liberating" injection. But now he has done it once, he finds he can't stop. He continues killing other patients, even though he knows he can't get away with it for long.

Frantisek Soukenický is a psychiatrist with an apparent life in order ... until the appearance of a former lover scorned. She ends her career and Frantisek ends without a job, his wife (who left him for another man) and homeless. He doesn´t have choice but to start from scratch, and know that everything that happened was his fault. Abandonment, reunions, commitment and the suffering caused certain relationships when they reach their final part of this film that combines drama with dry humor.

Iska, Karolína, and Vendula are eighteen-year-old girls who have just graduated from high school. Not wanting to let go of their carefree student lives or their friendship, they plan to hitchhike to Holland, where they've arranged to work on a farm for three months. But Vojta, Iska's little brother and her father's right hand man, joins the trio against their will. Dolls is a story about searching for love and finding oneself in the volatile time of late adolescence.
