Sam, um menino de sete anos, mora com a mãe desde que os pais se separaram, mas agora vai ter que morar com o pai, Gérôme, um escritor sem inspiração. Os dois mal se conhecem, já que o pai raramente esteve presente na vida do filho. Todos acreditam que Gérôme é incapaz de cuidar de uma criança. Após um início caótico, Sam começa a tentar ensinar Gérôme a ser o pai que ele tanto sente falta.

Lucy, a 19-year old law student and intern at a Swiss television network in Geneva, comes across her double in archival footage about the woman’s liberation movement in the 70’s. Her family’s resistance to talk about this time convinces Lucy that a secret lurks behind this mysterious woman, named Genevieve.
Sonia
Although there are women in the lives of the three main protagonists -- a middle-aged architect, his construction designer, and a journalist -- the women are not as crucial to the men's search for an identity as the title might suggest. When the three men run into a former professor of the architect and designer, they are inspired by his fanfare and expansive nature. Still in search of solutions to their particular problems, the men head out to visit the professor and get to the bottom of their own issues. Unfortunately, the professor turns out to be more "loco" than otherwise, and the three men watch their hopes burst like a popped balloon -- it seems like their ability to assess human character should now be added to their list of problem spots.
An ode to liberated speech and to the power of words, "those one speaks to others, those one speaks in silence", Alain Tanner's third film is inspired by a poet and a poetic text which deeply affected him as a young director.
