At a summer-evening dance a young girl meets a man who tells her he is a doctor. They go off together, and after that she never sees him again. She learns that she is pregnant and inquires about him at various hospitals, with no success. She reads of his engagement and becomes acquainted with another girl with a situation like her own.

"Rolling Sea" - After a longer stay at the hospital, the young Martin comes to Gothenburg and notice that his fiancee Sonja has met another man.

However, the life of a housewife soon becomes tedious. Her husband does not want her to study but secretly she enrolls in a high school again to be able to graduate. Her husband suspects funny business when she is spotted with her private tutor.

Fredrik seduces the office girl Anna. She becomes helplessly passionately in love. Fredrik cheat Anna of all her savings. He intends to manufacture beauty products. To market the product he forge the signature of a wealthy aunt of Anna.

Björn Norell, a bookish assistant to an art dealer, is fired because of his inability to find the third of a trio of Buddha statues. In order to get his job back, Norell, goes on a hunt to find it in order to get his job back. Meanwhile, the art dealer has sent his daughter Ulla after him to retrieve the statue. Rolf Berger, a hard working and dutiful deputy judge at the court of appeal, has been married for many years with Eva. She has long ago accepted that he spends his evenings with his legal work. Rolf Berger has been invited to the 25th anniversary of his graduation and starts to reconsider the kind of life he lives. When he meets the 19-year old Inger he falls in love with her and decide to leave his wife.

The famous author Mark Storm's publisher is unhappy with his books and asks him to write books in a more popular genre, crime for example. When Mark Storm comes to his apartment, he finds a burglar, Kurre. He notices that they have a physical similarity and they change identity, which makes it possible for Storm to make empirical studies in the world of crime.

The trio Erik, Arne and Ingrid have been friends since childhood, the two boys always competing for the affection of Ingrid. At the naval academy Erik gets into a fistfight and is expelled, to instead become a captain of a trading ship. Before he leaves Ingrid and Erik are engaged in secret. Later, when Erik is believed to be lost at sea, Ingrid instead gets engaged with Arne.

Georg Hammar works at the General Hospital and is engaged to the famous professor Berg's daughter Inga. But he is also drawn to the nurse Maria.
