В основу фильма положены воспоминания самого режиссёра Пиро Милькани о годах учёбы в Чехословакии. Действие фильма происходит в 1961 году в провинциальном чешском городке. Трое студентов пражской киношколы FAMU: албанец Лека, чех Карел и словак Артур готовят дипломную работу – фильм о заводе мотоциклов ESO в Чешском Штернберке. Фильм должен был показать преимущество чехословацких мотоциклов над западными. Политические события 1961 года, когда Албания вышла из блока социалистических стран, стали личной драмой для албанца Леки. Он должен был сделать выбор между привязанностью к своей стране и семье и интересной студенческой жизнью в Чехословакии. Принятие решения затрудняет и его роман с женой начальника полиции Штернберка - пани Шнайдеровой. Местом их встреч становится гостиница, а доверенным лицом Леки – хозяйка гостиницы…

This romantic comedy presents a story of two women, twenty-year-old Laura, an editor at a woman’s weekly, and her widowed mother, a translator-interpreter named Jana. The two of them tirelessly seek Mr. Right. Having once lived through an intense relationship with a ‘typical’ Czech man, Jana intentionally avoids Czech men. She searches for her dream foreigner while long-sufferingly warding off the tragicomic advances of her good-natured neighbor Žemla. After several unsuccessful attempts, Laura falls in love with Oliver, a forty year old who works as an ad agency idea man. Little does she suspect that twenty years ago Oliver was Jana’s true love…

It is about football, which lives just from village fans enthusiasm, from the enthusiasm of fathers and their sons and club officials. And yet on this battlefield, where the pub and silent household alternates, it is often about everything: friends, family, the meaning of life. It is about playing fair, but also about fighting below the belt. It is about winning, but also about falling into the abyss of the league wilderness.
