Mireya, her daughter, having grown up without her mother, feels nothing for her beyond what she feels for any acquaintance and rejects Carmen. Without Mireya's forgiveness, Carmen knows that she is leaving this earth without the bond of the person she loves the most, thanks to her mistakes.
