Having slept for a century, the monstrous Tree Devil is now awaken and starts finding lost souls again. One stormy night, a wise High Priest and his student Fong pass by the Orchid Temple and realize that it is haunted. Fong encounters two evil spirits, the seductive Lotus and her hated sister Butterfly in the temple. Although Fong knows his master wants to capture them, he finds himself being attracted by them so he sets them free. The monks stay at the temple has to be prolonged since Fong carelessly loses the valuable Gold Buddha. Later on, they come to a corrupt local town, while the High Priest meets Yin by chance and a series of misunderstandings evolve. Meanwhile, Fong encounters Lotus again and finds himself falling in love with her.

Sammo Hung plays three different characters: Fatty, Fatty's father and Fatty's grandfather, Hung Kau. Fatty is a hotel worker, yearning for sudden wealth. Therefore, he, and his co-worker, enter the gambling world, to the dismay of his father. When Fatty hits rock bottom, the ghost of his grandfather resurrects to help him. However, Fatty learns that his grandfather was murdered, therefore, he will stop at nothing to avenge his death.

Chung, Yam and Koo work for the same advertising agency. Chung is a philanderer. Yam lives with his girlfriend who is a TV reporter, requiring irregular working hours. Koo's wife puts a tight leash on his social activities and this makes him feel bored. The trio are going on a business trip to Korea on the expenses of the company. Tasteless comedy ensues.

Chinese doctor has his car break down in England. he wanders into a castle where vampires congregate. After having sex with a Chinese vampire he leaves, however his blood is so sweet the Chinese vampire is sent to Hong Kong bring him back. While in Hong Kong he begins to show signs of vampirism and his friends have to try to save him.

Several years after his beloved Nieh has gone, Ning is innocently put into jail. Luckily, he meets a scholar, Elder Chu Kot, in the prison who finally helps him escape. Ning then meets a young witty monk Autumn. They become friends and live in an abandoned villa together. The villa is horrific, yet they choose to stay for a while. Later that night, some ghosts suddenly appear and attack; two parties fight heavily. But after clarifications, Ning and Autumn find that "the ghosts" are humans in disguise, who intend to save their leader from imprisonment but not hurting innocence. Among them, Ning finds someone who looks identical to Nieh, and considers she is the reincarnated Nieh. A real giant zombie has seen all these in behind and is ready to ambush.

Miss Bowie is more or less happily raking in the cash until her life is complicated by the sudden reappearance, after 20 years, of her first (and presumably true) love. To this is added Miss Bowie's annoying teenage niece and a strange disease.

Lam, a cop approaching 40 but without much accomplishment, always wants to achieve something memorable before his retirement. The incident gets Lam, Baffalo and Ellen being involved in a ruthless underground arms smuggling ring, wich sends the killer to eliminate them.

A young man wants to be a Hong Kong police officer but is too short to qualify. However, he doesn't let that stop him: he goes around impersonating an officer, investigating crimes and busting criminals. One day, he interrupts a bank robbery (by three men in drag), gets shot in the process and dies. When the case is assigned to a female investigator, he returns as a ghost to lend a hand at solving the robbery.

A firefighter salvages a spiritual shrine from an old burning building, which releases the gentle ghost of a Chinese opera singer, killed in a stage fire 30 years before. Grateful for saving her, the ghost falls for the firefighter and will stop at nothing to ensure his safety from the evils that lurk ahead. At the same time, the firefighter doesn't realize he is dating a ghost.

Nightmares become reality for two people, and also bring them together. One is an office worker who also works at 7-11 at night, who also has a pretty fiancee who is being hassled by loan sharks. Kok is a bored valet driver who spends most of his day dreaming about the beautiful bikini-clad woman whose picture he has taped up to his office wall. One day, a major crime boss keels over dead in the brothel run by his mother. Trying to keep the whole thing quiet before the guy's underling return to pick him up, Kok's mother stuffs the corpse into the box and stashes it in Kok's parking lot. When the thugs put the squeeze on mom, she claims that she dumped the corpse in the harbor, which inevitably leads to even more hilarious complications.

A comedy film directed by Hong Kong New Wave filmmaker Yim Ho.
