Zach Galifianakis: Live at the Purple Onion (2007)
Genre : Comedy
Runtime : 1H 1M
Director : Michael Blieden
Synopsis
From an inauspicious beginning performing comedy routines in the back of a burger joint in New York, unorthodox stand-up star Zach Galifianakis has made a splash on the scene with his inimitable brand of humor. In this live show filmed at San Francisco's Purple Onion nightclub, the versatile funnyman serves up a healthy dose of his signature wit.
Actor/comedian Jim Breuer, best known from Saturday Night Live and the film Half Baked, set out in 2008 on his first stand-up tour in six years, taking his 84 year-old father along for the ride of his life. While struggling with the chores of caregiving and coming to terms with his father's mortality, Jim is determined to strengthen their relationship while on the road. Funny and raw, More Than Me is an intimate story of growing up and growing old.
Even Slikken (2000) is the sixth show of Jörgen Raymann. He performed in the Zuidplein Theatre in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The show was a Dutch production and was very well received by the press. One year later the show was released on DVD and CD.
After more than 200 shows, one Olivier and being put in default twice, Mike Ward offers you his latest standup show "Haïssable". Even those who thought they would hate it, loved it.
Raw, wild and hilariously funny, Bert Kreischer stars in "Comfortably Dumb," his debut comedy concert that follows his scene stealing appearances on Comedy Central and FX. He is one of today's hottest, most inventive comedians, something that a few years ago would have been deemed virtually impossible. Especially to Bert. It wasn't long ago when Rolling Stone Magazine named him "the number one party animal in the nation!" when this dedicated underachiever made a career out of attending Florida State University, a seven year adventure that became the basis for National Lampoon's hit movie, "Van Wilder." Now Bert has finally grown up. Sort of. And the result is a sold-out event destined to become a classic. This is your chance to party with the original party animal.
Comedy special featuring comedian Andrew "Dice" Clay. In his third HBO special he discusses Barbra Streisand, Kenny G., life with his son, a trip to the doctor's office and sex.
Stage registration of the fourth comedy special by Dutch comedian Micha Wertheim. A show about anger, repetition, change, and repetition.
Jon Stewart hosts this fund-raiser for autism charities from New York City's Beacon Theatre. Performers include Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Tina Fey, Rosie O'Donnell, Conan O'Brien, Sarah Silverman and Steve Carell.
In his stand-up show 'Oorverdovend,' Javier Guzman finds humor in such serious topics as his rough childhood, intolerance and our drifting society.
It is very rare for a British comedian to be given a concert film all to themself but in 1989 Lenny Henry was given that honour. We start off with him been driven to the concert by Robbie Coltrane as the sort of taxi driver you don't want to get a lift from. Once inside he meets three of his comic heroes - Steve Martin, Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy (all played by Lenny) and then it's on with the stage show. He mixes stand up with appearances from some of his best known characters and there are a few amusing songs along the way.
In his first hour-long special on Comedy Central, comedian and podcast host (You Made It Weird) Pete Holmes perfects his signature silliness and really gets into that time Juan won one. While he may look like a youth pastor, he's as comfortable talking about religion as he is secretly hating his girlfriend's friends and being a straight man who is 100% Gay for Ryan Gosling. Trust us, this special is McDonald's.
In April 1990, Billy Taitoko James came back from years of ill health, and made a triumphant return to performing his unique brand of music and comedy. It was a last hurrah for James, whose transplanted heart gave out on him the following year, but it's a worthy swansong. His unique brand of humour is captured here at its affable, non-PC, best, with Billy T giving everything he's got - every gag is rounded off with his trademark 'bro' laugh - for a loudly appreciative audience. Guests include Sir Howard Morrison.
In the follow-up to his first EPIX comedy special Please Be Offended, caustic comedian Jim Norton continues to push every hot button he can find... all in the name of a good laugh, of course. With his trademark self-deprecating brand of humor, Norton outrageously covers a wide range of topics that somehow all lead back to sex.
Filmed in the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City where Barry performed to sold out audiences. If you thought The Cousin couldn’t get any funnier, you were wrong! His quick wit, animated physical antics and hilarious facial expressions will leave you gasping for air. Enjoy his well-timed delivery and perfect execution from the minute you push play right up till the last minute. Find out about the uproarious disadvantages of wearing crocs, how Eminem relates to car guards and dog-doo, how “The BOERE” braai and how comical teenage boys, who are addicted to the gym, can be.
Bob Saget takes to the stage with a song in his heart. A filthy, filthy song to be exact. In his latest stand up special, Saget lets loose and embraces the dark side as he tells his favorite dirty jokes and stories about his dad - the guy who made him like this.
NZ’s most successful and funniest comedy duo are back with the DVD of their hit show Prettyfull Woman. All of the Laughing Samoans characters, such as Sam and Tony, Paul and Victor and Jonathan and Bryan, are back. Including the flamboyant and outspoken Aunty Tala who, in this show, enters a beauty contest! Hilarious ‘clean’ comedy for all nationalities and ages to enjoy.
Filmed at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, AZ on February 15th and 16th, 2013, Oh My God is Louis C.K.'s fifth stand-up special, his first for HBO since 2007's Shameless, and his first since winning a Emmy Award for writing on his acclaimed show on FX, Louie. Performed in the round in front of a live audience, he discusses such topics as the food chain, animals, divorce, strange anecdotes, broken morality, murder and mortality.
