Recorded at The Chapel in Melbourne in 2001, Jimmy performs a selection of Cold Chisel and solo hits in an acoustic style, all in an intimate live environment. Featuring Flame Trees, Khe Sanh, When Something Is Wrong With My Baby, Cheap Wine, Ride The Night Away, I'd Die To Be With You Tonight, Good Times and many more, JIMMY BARNES LIVE AT THE CHAPEL finds this iconic Australian singer in fine voice.
The video kicks off from a 1978 performance of 'Rosalita' with a 29 year old Bruce wailing away with chicks jumpin' on the stage grabbing him! Lucky guy! The other songs featured include all the popular tunes like 'Born To Run', 'Born In The USA', 'I'm On Fire' and 'Glory Days'. Even some lesser known songs such as 'Spare Parts' (from 'Tunnel Of Love' album) and 'Tougher than the rest' from 'Tunnel Of Love' also which are both live. I like Bruce Springsteen a lot. He has the edge as a showman and musical innovator without losing the plot onstage. Fans will love this video for it's authentic live performances, music videos and classic Springsteen songs. Great
The title of Like the Deserts Miss the Rain comes from "Missing," the first of nine videos on this collection (and the band's biggest U.S. hit). While all could be described as "stylish"--much like Everything But the Girl--they're otherwise quite different. Sometimes Tracey Thorne and Ben Watt appear; other times actors take center stage. "Single," for instance, features a man tumbling across town: down the street, into a Laundromat, in and out of a dryer, etc. Then there's the "populist" video for Simon and GarfunkelÂ’s "The Only Living Boy in New York," directed by art house favorite Hal Hartley (Henry Fool). (The duo appears to have added a few dozen members.) The DVD also includes three live performances, including a fine version of Massive Attack's "Protection" (featuring Thorne on vocals), and three demo tracks that play as photos of the duo pass by. A fine career overview of one of the U.K.'s most enduring acts. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
Cliff Richard, the Peter Pan of pop, is shown here performing a selection of songs from his five-decade career, plus works by artists ranging from Elvis Presley and the Beatles to Art Garfunkel and Bryan Adams. Tracks include 'The Young Ones', 'Living Doll', 'We Don't Talk Anymore', 'Mistletoe and Wine', 'Saviour's Day' and 'Millennium Prayer', and Cliff's old chum Hank Marvin also puts in an appearance.
On December 3rd, 2007, Madness performed at the now legendary Astoria Club in London, England. The concert includes Madness favorites such as 'One Step Beyond', 'Baggy Trousers', 'House Of Fun' and 'It Must be Love'.
'Gunyah - I'll Sing You The Outback' is a musical trip with John Williamson through the great Australian Outback. The DVD features 13 new songs from the hit album GUNYAH, plus 'Sail the Nullarbor' and 'Old Man Emu'.
The Essential Alison Moyet was essentially a third re-release of Singles, the 1995 greatest hits album of recordings by singer/songwriter Alison Moyet. The album was released in 2001 by Sony Music Entertainment in response to renewed interest in the singer, after she was finally released from her contract with the label and able to sign with Sanctuary Records, regain the artistic control of her musical output and move back into the public eye - resulting in 2002 comeback album Hometime. However, there are some differences in the track listings of the two Sony compilations. The Essential Alison Moyet excludes "Only You", "Situation', "Ordinary Girl", "Ode To Boy II", "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and "Solid Wood", and replaces them with "Don't Go", "Winter Kills", "Our Colander Eyes" and "Blue" (the latter two recorded in 1995/1996) plus cover versions "Ne Me Quitte Pas" and "There Are Worse Things I Could Do".
BBC Radio's Big Weekend is an annual festival held at different locations across the UK. The show lasted from May 14-15, 2011. Lady Gaga performed on the main stage and was quoted as "monster avant-garde pop fantasia".
The artist formerly known as Cat Stevens gives his first full concert in nearly three decades, in an exclusive BBC performance at the Porchester Hall, London. In an exotic Morrocan cafe-style set, he and his band treat the audience of friends, family and fans to songs from across his career, including classic tracks like Father and Son, Peace Train, Wild World and Where Do the Children Play.
