For the short film "Nudisten" (the Nudist) documentary filmmaker My Sandström was awarded the film prize "Startsladden". As part of the prize turned out to be conditional arose the idea for a new film. She simply gave people she met 1 000 kronor if she could film them as they spent it.

Each film in Instant Life (1981) was a remake of an earlier film also called Instant Life (1941). The earlier Instant Life (1941) was a single film, not a compilation.
