Instrument is a documentary film directed by Jem Cohen about the band Fugazi. Cohen's relationship with band member Ian MacKaye extends back to the 1970s when the two met in high school in Washington, D.C.. Editing of the film was done by both Cohen and the members of the band over the course of five years. The material is cut into 2 volumes. Vol. 2 features two complete Deli Creeps concerts in San Francisco, unrehearsed backstage footage, and a rare Buckethead interview in a park. This time Saucy Patches appeared in one concert (9/1/90), before being replaced by Tony Black in the other concert (4/3/91).

Vol. 1 features a 1990 Deli Creeps concert and the soundcheck in San Francisco, also a keyboard performance in a San Francisco basement, and an extended guitar solo performed by Buckethead at a family reunion. The DVD includes the original version of the song "Binge and Grab" from the album Giant Robot (1994). It features lyrics by singer Maximum Bob while the studio album version of the song is instrumental.

After losing a street race to Tatsuya Shima's legendary "Blackbird" Porsche 911 Turbo, high school student Akio Asakura purchases a heavily-modified first-generation Datsun S30 Fairlady Z from a junkyard. The car has a dark history of accidents, leading some to believe it's cursed; hence its nickname "Devil Z." Akio also discovers that the Z's first owner shared his first and last name, and was killed in the car during a race with the Blackbird.
