The Man Who Came Back (1914)

Harold March fakes his own death by pinning a suicide note to a corpse in order to join the ranks. He distinguishes himself at the front but his stepbrother George gets the credit and the VC. Harold decides not to divulge the truth for the sake of the troops' morale.
