The annual beginning of the Road to WrestleMania featured Drew McIntyre defending his WWE Championship against Goldberg, Kevin Owens facing "The Head of the Table" Roman Reigns in a Last Man Standing Match for the Universal Championship, and of course, the annual Men's and Women's Royal Rumble Matches that determined who will headline the Showcase of the Immortals.

Royal Rumble 2016 was a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by WWE. It took place on January 24, 2016 at Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. It was the 29th event under the Royal Rumble chronology and the first WWE pay-per-view of 2016.
