Synopsis
In 1880, the young, brave firefighter Ignacij Merhar from Prigorica commanded his company in the Slovenian language during the Ljubljana firemen's parade. With this, he upset the authorities at the time, which is why he was temporarily detained. Due to public pressure, the lawsuit was dropped and he was released. His action coincided with the national revival at the time, when Slovenians actively advocated the use of their native language both in public and in public institutions.
Under the watchful eye of his mentor, Captain Mike Kennedy, probationary firefighter Jack Morrison matures into a seasoned veteran at a Baltimore fire station. However, Jack has reached a crossroads as the sacrifices he's made have put him in harm's way innumerable times and significantly impacted his relationship with his wife and kids.
