A precarious con artist manipulates the family of a “miracle girl” and creates a business so large and lucrative that it will inevitably get out of hand.

A handmade narco sub is on the verge of sinking and losing its precious cargo due to a mechanical failure. The three crew members are forced to open the forbidden cargo cabin to distribute the weight and save the ship. Next to the cargo they find a special “gift“ for the buyer: a young girl, gagged and in terrible shape. The boat, barely big enough for three to begin with, becomes a steaming powder cake of fears, desires and greed.

Between Marx and a Naked Woman is the adaptation of a novel written by Ecuadorian Poet, Jorge Enrique Adoum. The scenes of this film insert us into Ecuador in the sixties, when the electoral struggle, convoked by the military government for a new return to democracy, is in full force. Galvez’s left-wing party must elect its candidate, but he is shoved to one side because of the criticism of the party’s political leadership. While his struggle becomes bitter, he must withstand the frustration of not being able to offer full love to Margaramaría, another party member.

On the northern coast of Ecuador, on Tolita Island, Washo, a fifty-year-old unemployed fisherman tempted by necessity accepts the invitation of his friend who brings him to raid a tomb, insisting he knows the location of a new Moche treasure.
