André Guiomar

History

André Guiomar (1988) lives in Portugal. He worked for several film production companies and is a founding partner of Olhar de Ulisses. His debut documentary “Our Land, Our Altar” premiered at Sheffield Doc/Fest, won the Youth Jury Award at the ZINEBI Festival and the Emerging Director Award at the Porto/Post/Doc International Competition. In 2018, his short documentary “Skin of Light” won the Jury Prize at Doclisboa. He is currently working on his new documentary film “New Chung – The Strenght of a Bull” and on a short fiction film entitled “Saturn”. He also worked on cinematography and editing of films like “The Mother and the Sea” (2013) from Gonçalo Tocha (winner of the national DocLisboa award in 2014 and awarded with the best editing at Cineport) and the fiction film “Mabata Bata” (2017) by Sol de Carvalho, for which he received a distinction at the Ouagadougou Panafrican Film and Television Festival for best editing. At Olhar de Ulisses, he produced several of films with selections for festivals like Berlinale, Cairo IFF and Curtas Vila do Conde.
