Blackburn born actor best known for playing the first Kryten and Talkie Toaster in Red Dwarf. He has appeared in several Alan Bleasdale productions including Boys from the Blackstuff, Scully and GBH and in the John Sullivan sitcoms Roger, Roger and The Green, Green Grass. He also played the anxious father Bevis in Jack Rosenthal's Eskimo Day and its sequel, Cold Enough For Snow
