Malan is a jobless 25 year-old youth who spends his days playing cricket with friends. He suffers from an irrational fear of ghosts and retreats to the safety of his home after sunset. His fear is so great he prefers to sleep with his widowed mother Geetha and have her accompany him to the bathroom at night, and also at the eating time. This creates major annoyance in the household, including Malan's brother Gamini, sister-in-law Nirmala and their children.

The film starts with a release of peoples' vote of government election, where Rajamanthri (Vijaya) lost his seat and crying with his allies. However, his secretary Sumanasiri (Rodney) revealed that the winning member has been hospitalized after hearing the shocking news of that he won the election of the seat. Rajamanthri and crew went to the hospital and finally the winning member died and Rajamanthri won the seat. After winning the seat, he started to celebrate the win, but his fellow ministers (Priyantha and Jayasiri) started to make actions against him. However, with many funny incidents, Rajamanthri pass all the battles with the help of his allies. Meanwhile, Liyana Mahaththaya (Lal), clark (Mihira) and Kalu mudalali (Giriraj) proposed an Awurudu Ulela to impress Chief minister Narendrasinghe (Sathischandra).

Vadeesha Devaminda Wickramanayaka is a highly creative and sensitive young music student in his school. A special love letter that he finds accidentally, written by Punya, a women, more mature than him in both age and life, motivates him for some soul searching. He is also haunted by guilt, because he fails to deliver the letter, to who it belongs. His relentless efforts to return the letter to the women to her lover, fail. Sympathy mixed with emotions of love he feels towards this women, leads to him creating a song that captures a cathartic experience. This popular creation and many other songs that he gives birth to, for a period of 20 years, makes him a prominent musician in the country. But however, his memories and nostalgia towards Punya make him a failure in his married life. Although he regains his life by returning the letter to Punya after 20 years by chance, she is now left with a feeling of void her life.

A Coincidental meeting of a Soldier and an Army officer at a dark night, in a forest burning with war, between Sri Lankan Army and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The Soldier's efforts born out of sheer respect to save the life of his critically wounded senior Officer become futile at the end. At the Senior officer's death, the soldier nagged constantly by his conscience and its questioning, feels that he too was responsible for the death of his Senior Officer. in the face of this, the soldier begins to probe into the past of the Senior Officer's life and engages in boundless sacrifice to bring justice to him, and in that process soldier gets Senior Officer's past wrongs corrected.

Podi Eka, a village teenager without any education living with his poverty-stricken mother and sister. He cannot even write Amma (mother) Akka (sister) mama (me). Instead he draws three crosses on the wall in charcoal depicting the threesome. He works for his stepfather carrying water to the illicit brewery and experiences the rape of his sister by the stepfather, the bootlegger and the consequent suicide of his sister. He murders his stepfather in vengeance and spends 17 years in jail, returning to the village as an adult to help his uncle in farming and cattle rearing. He is still called Podi Eka. His attempts to start a new life fail on account of the tragic death of his mother and his own brutish desires.

Rathi is pregnant and waits for her boyfriend, who is a soldier. In one of his visits on leave, Rathi tells him about her pregnancy. Soon after, she finds out that he is actually married, has no intent to take care of the child and simply tells her to perform an abortion.

But when nothing seems to go right, he grows desperate.
