In 1914, students living in a boarding house are disturbed by a young woman. On the eve of being called up, one of them declares his love for her. She abandons herself to someone who may not come back.

Baron Arnold, a businessman, takes his young wife to Africa where he instructs her to seduce Captain Olivier, an intelligence officer. But Olivier illuminates the baroness on the unsavory activities of her husband as a weapons dealer and entrepreneur of revolutions.

The film portrays the relationship between a female Moroccan student, who has been forced to leave her studies at the Sorbonne for financial reasons and works as a dancer in a Paris nightclub, and a French naval officer. However, on returning to Casablanca she is tricked into believing that he had the led attack on her village that wiped out her family. She begins to plot her revenge.

He doesn't know that it's all part of the dance. "Chiqué" is the first French talking picture produced in France.

Nadia de Hock breaks her engagement to another man because of her love to the marquis d'Areghi. She lives a life of pleasure until Areghi reveals he is just an adventurer who has just killed his brother. He asks her to sign a letter so he can use her as his alibi. Some time later, Areghi is attacked by Nadia's guard dogs as he tries to see her. He dies as she forgives him for the pain he caused her.

Eugenie Grandet has discovered where her father, a miserable old miser, keeps his treasure. Eugenie's cousin, Charles, is the bearer of a letter from his father to his uncle, Eugenie's father. The letter informs the miser that Charles' father, his only brother, is reduced to a state of utter ruin, and unless he can obtain immediate help, he contemplates suicide.
