History
Efthymis Filippou was born January 18, 1977 in Acharnes, Athens, Greece. He is a Greek author, playwright and screenwriter. He has also been active as a journalist and copywriter. Together with Yorgos Lanthimos, he wrote "Dogtooth", "Alps", "The Lobster", "The Killing of a Sacred Deer", and "AND". He has also worked with the Greek directors Babis Makridis ("Pity") and Athina Rachel Tsangari ("Chevalier"). Filippou has written many plays "Bloods" (2014), "Excuse 4&5" (2016), "Rob" (2017) and "George" (2020).

Marina, 23, is growing up with her architect father in a prototype factory town by the sea. Three teenagers are confined to an isolated country estate that could very well be on another planet. The trio spend their days listening to endless homemade tapes that teach them a whole new vocabulary. Any word that comes from beyond their family abode is instantly assigned a new meaning. Hence 'the sea' refers to a large armchair and 'zombies' are little yellow flowers. Having invented a brother whom they claim to have ostracized for his disobedience, the uber-controlling parents terrorize their offspring into submission.
