In the wilderness amongst industrial debris lives a boy Kid. All round Kids house there is a vast, ruined plant covered with wild growth. Boys father was killed in a mine accident so Kid lives alone with his mother. There are rumors that a hyena settled in the bushes close to boys house. The beast is carnivorous and attacks people. Each time Kid goes to school he must overcome terrible fear. Whats more people started to disappear in the neighborhood. Kid suspects that mysterious, hiding man has something to do with it.

Four boys act out games in a nearly barren landscape near a mining excavation where blasting is going on. The oldest, Szafran, is their leader. When he gets into a frenzy, so do the others: running barefoot through thistles, rubbing dirt in their hair, catching fish barehanded. Szafran says he is the Antichrist and gives orders.
