A blue collar worker tries to rescue his pregnant, heroin-addicted girlfriend from the notorious streets of Camden, NJ and her close-knit group of drug users. Once their son is born, he forces her to choose between her life with her drug "family" and one with him and their child.

Originally named the United States Narcotic Farm, Narco opened its doors in 1935 and was a radical, and ultimately doomed, experiment on how to understand and treat drug addiction in the US. The coed facility not only housed convicted drug offenders, but also those who voluntarily checked in for drug rehabilitation.
