History

Manoj - Gyan is a colloquial term used to refer to the duo of music directors Manoj Saran / Manoj Bhatnagar and Gyan Varma. In the 1980s, the two collaboratively composed music for a few Hindi-language as well as Tamil-language movies. Manoj hails from the state of Uttar Pradesh, while Gyan is from Punjab. The two split up around 1989. Years later, Manoj built a recording theater and eventually returned as a producer-music director in 1998, assuming the name of Manoj Bhatnagar. He produced and also directed the music for two films "Endrendrum Kadhal" (starring Vijay) and "Good Luck" (starring Prashant).

Surya (Prashanth) is a carefree youth living in Malaysia with his brother Chandramohan (Raghuvaran) and sister-in-law Devi (Sukanya). Chandramohan and Devi are childless because of a problem with Chandramohan. Surya falls in love with dancer Priya (Riya Sen) and manages to steal her heart too. Just when things seem happy, a bombshell is dropped by a Sister Mary who tells Surya that he is the father of a small girl Pooja. Pooja must undergo an operation to save her life but insists on seeing her dad before agreeing to the operation. Surya agrees to pose as her dad and is forced to do so on a more permanent basis even after the operation is done.

Samrat is a psychopath who wants to take revenge on the person (Sundar) at any cost, who killed his father and damaged his mother's conduct. He believes that his late mother is still alive. Samrat wants to impose the same fate as Sundar's daughters. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.
