A woman single-handedly shoulders her family's burdens, without reward or thanks, to farm her husband's land and keep the family fed and cared for. She finds herself training her daughter to walk the same path she does. No school, all work. Pests threaten her harvest and are exterminated using a loan from the local women's Co-op. But when Manyusi squanders her prized harvest and schemes to marry off their daughter, Fatuma must enlist the help of her fellow ladies at the co-op to make things right.

A beautiful country. It has mountains. It has forests. It has rivers. Only, there is no water. Edward and his wife owns a small, simple house with a garden. As everything else around here, the garden is no longer a garden, but a barren field with just a few tops of dry maize. The drought is a silent disaster, moving through the entire country – like a ghost.

Mashoto’s life in the city is a hustle. It’s a fast life in the fast city of Dar es Salaam. There’s no time to stop and Mashoto likes it this way. Most of all, Mashoto must discover what it is he is fighting for.

Ruben (10) is one of the best fencers in the club. He has won nearly every title in Denmark, so this season he has to face some of the toughest and most talented fencers in Europe. A lot is a stake for Ruben and he has to find the strength within himself to overcome his anxiety and control his temper if he is to win the big european championship. Ruben's best friend Marie is fencing too, and alongside the drama that is played out on the fencing piste, an even greater story is unfolding about a friendship between a boy and a girl in their early teens - a time when many things change.

Shida is the new kid in class in a private boarding school in Tanzania. He is shy, he has no self-esteem, he does not speak one word of English - the primary language in the school, and he suffers from albinism. Like most children with albinism in the country Shida was taken away from his parents to be protected from the witchcraft related killings. The film follows Shida during his first year at the new school where the rules are strict and tolerance low. He is trying his best to meet the demands. The school is a chance of an education and to escape a life on the bottom of society. With the help from his new friend Allan he is struggling to become better in school and to be accepted by the teachers and pupils.

Pelle is in love with Dagmar and really wants to reveal this to her, but his drunken dad keeps getting in the way. Rasmus can't accept that his newborn son is seriously ill and ends up distancing himself from his wife in order to try to hold on to the hope. Aksel wants to get back together with his ex-wife and is using his daughter as a go-between until the day when his ex-wife suddenly brings home a new boyfriend.
