Dom Salvador & Abolição is a documentary about jazz pianist and composer Dom Salvador, who have been playing for 42 years at The River Café in Brooklyn. One of the architects of Bossa Nova in Brazil and a busy studio session musician and arranger, during the 60’s, Salvador played with the country's best. The man who is credited to be the pioneer of many musical styles, a name in more than a thousand records and the leader of the seminal band Abolition. After recording only one album, Salvador abandons a promising and successful journey with the band to pursue his passion for jazz, moving to New York in the early 70’s.

Where are you, João Gilberto? sets out in the footsteps of German writer Marc Fischer who obsessively searched for the legendary founding father of Bossa Nova and last great musical legend of our time, Brazilian musician João Gilberto, who has not been seen in public for decades. Fischer described his journey in a book, Hobalala, but committed suicide one week before it was published. By taking up Marc Fischer's quest, following his steps one by one, thanks to all the clues he left us, we pursue João Gilberto to understand the history, the very soul and essence of Bossa Nova. But who can tell whether we will meet him or not?

Mixing Samba, Jazz and sophisticated lyricism, the sultry Bossa Nova sound was spawned in the beaches and bars of Rio, Brazil in the late '50s, and quickly seduced the world when anthems like 'The Girl from Ipanema' became huge international hits. This compelling documentary, filmed on location in Rio, and featuring rare live clips of Bossa legends' Tom Jobim and Astrud Gilberto, traces the legacy of the seductive Bossa Nova sound through interviews with the key players from the era including Sergio Mendes, Carlos Lyra and Paulo Jobim.
