History

Born in South Korea, he holds a doctorate in animation film from the visual studies school of Tokyo State University of Fine Arts. After his studies he continued his career, specializing in the making of animated short films. He has a great admiration and was influenced in his style by great artists of the twentieth century such as Vassilij Kandinsky, Robert Delaunay, Henri Matisse. One of his latest works, Creative Evolution, in 2019 was awarded at the Mainichi Film Competition and was also nominated for the Ōfuji Noburō Prize, as well as having entered the program of various international festivals.

Commemorating the 700th anniversary of Dante's death, the film is a reinterpretation of Dante and Beatrice's reunion story, from "Vita Nova" to the three parts of the "Divine Comedy" (Hell, Purgatory and Heaven). Where are we, young people, now? Where should we go? Since 2020, it has become clear that young people are free to choose anything. We can even choose to live or die. The new world is coming. Let's jump into it with love for ourselves and for others.

The blue evolves. The blue rises toward the upper world. The blue becomes green and then yellow, which makes things unstable. So red circle appears to bring into balance between blue and yellow. These three colours unite into one, [rising] until the summit, over the boundary line, and becomes a white circle to a full stop. And then it returns to the first state.
