As everything seems utterly natural, audience does not imagine what happened before. By following their daily lives during the weeks preceding the premieres, Benoît Jacquot brings a singular perspective of the two actors and shows them like we’ve never seen before.

In the middle of summer 2001, in a small village in Burgundy, a film crew was about to shoot the first images of Jean Luc Gromer's new film, when suddenly the camera was torn from its foot and stolen by two young local teenagers: Joe and Patrice.

Thomas has followed Rebecca to Amiens, but shortly after his arrival, she leaves him. Auda cares only for books and the pursuit of knowledge. One day, their adopted father Nesib is visited by an American from Texas. He tells the Emir that his land is blessed with oil and promises him riches beyond his wildest imagination. Nesib imagines a realm of infinite possibility, a kingdom with roads, schools and hospitals all paid for by the black gold beneath the barren sand. There is only one problem. The precious oil is located in the Yellow Belt.

Soon, she'll carry his child, and he'll be gone, and the family will have to deal with this out-of-wedlock pregnancy...
